We’re running through the inky black darkness for what seems like an eternity, we are running out of energy- I’m panting. We slow, eventually stopping, our eyes darting around looking for an exit, nothing. Then we hear the thudding footsteps growing louder so that it sounds echo all around- we are trying to find its origin but we can’t. My friend panics and breaks out in a run yelling for us to follow. One by one we follow running deeper in to the seemingly endless darkness. We run until the footsteps of the unknown thing fades to a soft patter and I realise how out of breath I am. looking at the others I see familiar features in the one who demanded we continue running. his face sagged but had a cheerful look. I look at the others they too have something familiar about them, one has a unique hair style- as if practised methodically and coated in hairspray. Another dressed in murky blue overalls- which I could’ve sworn belonged to me, and the last was young and had a look of sadness, hope and longing in his eyes when he looked at me but his features and hair resembled that of the older man. The darkness enclosed them and then the silence was broken with an explosive moan, then the almost inaudible footsteps came pounding louder and louder, closer and closer. we bounded into action running in- as best as we could tell- the opposite direction. Then a high pitched screech came from the woman with the stiffened hair. I turned and stopped to see the young girl being dragged

It is a matter of fact that women in the past and the recent present have had many public health issues that were hard on them, and they had to deal with these problems more than men did. However, they have overcome some of these issues, but there are still issues in the public health’s area women are still dealing with. Unfortunately, women’s issues were only mentioned if they had to do with maternity care only, and rather than that they were ignored. Anything beyond maternity care was not on the spot for women, and that had them to go through a rough patch. In our class we had different reading examples that showed the meaning of this one-sided thinking from society back in the days. Also, one of these reading examples was talking about how we should go beyond this issue. Healthcare provider in the public health field or other are obligated to help people regardless their gender. Neither women nor men ought to be treated differently because of their physical or biolog ical anatomy; and they should be treated equally rather than restricting them in one category. Sadly, most of the issues that are concerned in the public health fields about women are related on their abilities to be good human reproducers, and they focus on them most of the time. CED 322: Case Study In the case of the 46 year-old female client, I would begin my assessment of her by attempting to relieve her current state of anxiety. My first goal would be to allow her to feel safe and comfortable when she enters my office. I want her to know that my office is a safe haven from anything that causes her to relapse. Once the client and I spend some time reviewing her life story, I would ask her to complete the SASSI-3 to give me a well balanced perspective of her overall struggle with cocaine and heroin abuse. Although I’ve been given some background information on the client’s previous history of abuse, I feel that the SASSI-3 can give me some insight to habits and traits she developed from her family and lifestyle growing up. Since I have some information about her early use of alcohol, I would also administer a MAST which could give me some insight on her dependency with alcohol. I would be able to better understand how alcohol plays a role in her use of heroin and cocaine. Once I can determine how they correlate I can then accurately diagnose her and lead to a more successful treatment strategy. From the current information I would diagnose this client with Cocaine and Opioid- Induced Mood Disorder (292. 84). The client reports that she relapses when she has a desire to feel â€Å"numb† which tells us her emotions and feelings are primary factors that influence her addictive behavior. Also, her addiction is so severe that she claims that she uses at times for no reason at all. Since she is remorseful and fearful of her life, I feel that she is searching for the right treatment to rid herself of this life threatening addiction. She has the desire to change but is in need of the will to change. I would focus on her everyday routine, eliminating the parts of her day that involve thoughts or ideas that lead to using heroin and cocaine. I would recommend that she use the 12 step program and group therapy as new ways to guide her towards recovery. Since she using these substances in private, I feel she could possibly benefit from others who know and feel the same struggles as she does. This would allow her to not feel alone in her recovery and bring a sense of accountability to prevent from relapse. I would monitor her progress in the 12 step program and encourage her to patiently complete each step. I’m basing my treatment strategy on trust. In order to eliminate her fear and anxiety along with her addiction through these screens and methods, she must be willing to trust herself at all times.
